OPI’s unique approach extends the potential of strategic outsourcing to a large and diverse group of companies. Our client list offers sweeping degrees of variation in terms of revenue size and industry, however, there are a number of common operational and cultural characteristics which are shared amongst our clients. Below we offer you a glimpse into the types of companies that we work with.
Many Shapes and Sizes
- Annual Revenues - Clients range in size from US$100 million to over US$100 billion, although the majority of our clients consider themselves to be middle-market companies and typically post annual revenues in the range of US$1 billion to US$4 billion.
- Ownership Structure - Roughly 40% of our clients are publicly traded, while 60% are privately held.
- Industry - We deliver industry focused solutions to clients across a range of markets including but not limited to Agriculture, Business Services, Consumer Products, Consumer Services, Education Products & Services, Energy & Utilities, Entertainment & Leisure, Financial Services, Healthcare, Hotels & Motels, Manufacturing, Media, Not For Profit, Real Estate, Retail, Technology, Telecommunications, and Transportation & Logistics.
- Location of Operations - Most of our clients are headquartered in the United States or the United Kingdom, although many of our clients are global in nature and thus operations are also global. For such clients it is not uncommon for our services to touch multiple country locations.
- Languages Spoken - While many of our clients require service in English only, we also deliver multi-lingual services to approximately 20% of our clients. Languages serviced include Bulgarian, Cantonese, Danish, Dutch, Flemish, French, German, Hindi, Italian, Malay, Mandarin, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, and Swedish.
- Size of Finance & Accounting Team - Client F&A teams typically number 50 - 300 employees pre-outsourcing. Of course there are always brilliant exceptions.
- Technology - Our clients run a range of ERP systems including Oracle, SAP, PeopleSoft, Microsoft Dynamics GP, Lawson, and others. Some clients have fully integrated and centralized systems, while more commonly they may run multiple, disparate legacy systems.
- Experience with Outsourcing - Many of our larger clients have had some past corporate experience with outsourcing, most commonly in the form of IT outsourcing. However, the majority of our clients have had little or no past experience managing outsourcing relationships. As such, we encourage a phased adoption approach whereby clients are able to learn the skills of strategic outsourcing management as they go, and gradually increase the scope as well as the benefits.
- Cultural DNA - OPI clients are bound together by their common drive toward improved operations. Our clients tend to be results-focused organizations, that understand the inherent tradeoff between risk and reward, and that uphold a positive outlook toward change. It is important that companies are able to garner the internal consensus, buy-in, and support necessary in order to ensure the success of strategic outsourcing.
